MESCAL'S MESSAGE
Michael Stock has been a real boon to the body politic of Ulster County.
He approaches the business of government like it is , a business,
Mike urges all to be business like and non partisan. He himself votes
and acts on the merit of issues. He voted against issuing permission
for the Indian Head Plant to resume operation. He supports Universal
Health Care. The bridge fabrication plant on VanDale road for which
he worked so hard has proven an invaluable asset to the County. He
helped open the closed Republican Caucuses of the Legislature.
He has given most generously of time, equipment and money to Woodstock.
The list is long and includes clearing the ground for the Arts Board
theatre project, helping with the erection of the Shakespeare building
at Comeau, developing sports fields for the youngsters, and working
on the site of the new fire house and many others. Of himself he has
given 8 years of service on the Planning Board, and more recently
served on the Town Board.
A man with his knowledge, ability, lack of partisan bias, and concern
for community should be returned to the Legislature. In whatever position
he might hold there he would help create a more unified body concerned
with good government, not petty politics.

STOCK'S
A LEADER
I'm not a personal friend of Mike Stock, but I've known him for over
25 years and I'm glad he represents us in the County legislature.
He's smart, fair and extremely capable. Mike is a good neighbor, too.
Generous with his time and his business assets for any good cause
or when something needs to get done around here. He rolls up his sleeves
and makes sure something positive happens. He's a true leader because
he knows how to listen, how to build consensus and, when necessary,
how to compromise.
This is a complex, diverse and politically divided society we live
in - even on a local level. And we need public officials like Mike
Stock if it's going to work at all. So, to me, it's a no-brainer putting
a solid, proven, constructive person like Mike back working for the
community. As I said up top, it's not personal. I'm not writing this
as a favor to a friend. I just recognize a good thing when I see it.
No one else will do the job for us like Mike.

MIKE'S
GOOD STOCK
Having been in elected public service for 32 years, twelve of them
as a county legislator, I'm proud and happy to endorse the re-election
of Mike Stock, who is the current Majority Leader.
Mike has done an outstanding, enormous job under sometimes trying
circumstances. He is extremely loyal to his constituents, not only
in District 2, but the entire county of Ulster.
He faithfully attends every meeting, an event in and out of his district,
and doesn't ignore or 'look away' from challenges.
On a personal note, I have known Mike's mother, June Stock Faulkner,
for many years and I know Mike comes from good 'stock.'
Therefore, I respectfully request that the voters of all political
persuasions in the town of Shandaken, Woodstock, Denning and Hardenburgh
re-elect Mike Stock as your faithful Ulster County Legislator on November
8.

ONE
EXCEPTION - MIKE STOCK
There was a time in my life when I researched each and every candidate,
regardless of his or her party affiliation, to determine my vote.
Then came the Bush administration. And with it, the loss of my husband
of twenty-five years, killed in the WTC on September 11, 2001. Now,
I welcome back my 'stepson' temporarily - home from 546 days in Afghanistan,
severely traumatized, being trained for deployment to Iraq - having
been aggressively recruited to avenge Ken's death. For the obvious
reason I now vote Democratic across the board - with one exception.
Mike Stock. Mike has shown me that political parties are made up of
individuals. As an individual, he has demonstrated his dedication
to those in the community he serves, par extraordinaire. I recall
those days in the aftermath of September 11. Having been in Woodstock
only a short time, my resources in this community were minimal. It
was not a time for casserole brigades, as everyone's world had been
rocked. It was a time for opportunism and jealousy, as people believed
the media coverage about forthcoming aid from the various governmental
and charitable organizations (thankfully, subsequent media coverage
has since brought to light the inefficacy and gross irresponsibility
of these offices and organizations). When I was still reeling and
devastated beyond words, Mike Stock (to whom I was a total stranger)
took it upon himself to reach out and do whatever I needed help with.
He was an angel who stood behind me in line one morning at Bread Alone
and overheard a neighbor extending condolences. In polite deference,
he waited until I left to ascertain what he surmised to be my loss.
He literally came running out into the street after me to see how
he could help. And help he did. And help he does. Altruistically,
he accords help to a staunch and registered Democrat. Mike was the
man who selflessly took on the task of mowing my lawn that dismal
autumn; first himself and then delegating the chore to an employee.
Though it may sound little, it was then monumental and emotional -
something only my late husband had done and emblematic of all he would
no longer do. Mike offered to organize a fundraiser on my behalf,
though I felt it best to carry on in the selfless spirit with which
my husband lost his life helping others, and designated a children's
book fund at the library as beneficiary to Mike's good will. Over
the years, as a single woman homeowner, I've found myself in many
a conundrum. In despair, I've picked up the phone and dialed Mike's
number countless times. Immediate help has always been forthcoming.
Amidst circumstance that has left me traumatized and devastated, Mike
continues to make me feel safe and secure in a world where both safety
and security are elusive. As his actions reveal, he is a fine man.
Mike Stock is the exception to my rule - I will happily vote Republican
in this one instance.

Dear
Mr. Stock,
The town and the country have begun work on replacing the berm along
the Rondout in Sundown that was washed out in April's flood. We
know that you had a lot to do with getting the powers-that-be to
act. Thank you, we appreciate your assistance.
Sincerely,
John Higgins

the past several months I have had a number of occasions to callon
you for assistance, and you have each time responded with unfailing
politeness, accessibility and concern....I can not imagine what
more a voter can expect from an official... You can count on my
support. I remain your loyal supporter, and look forward to continued
good relations.
Respectfully

Mike
Stock's representation of Shandaken has been superb over the last
two years. He has been here when we needed him, sponsoring and supporting
resolutions to benefit the flood victims and helped by participating
in site inspections with Town Officials.
Mike has always made himself available whether to come to a Town Board
meeting, or just answer questions or gather information.
Thanks Mike for all you have done.

The County bureaucracy, like most, can be a frustrating tangle to

you, Mike Stock, for your efforts to bring nearly $500 million in
additional federal Medicaid funding to the counties of New York State.

of dollars from Washington could not have been accomplished without
your support."
